History overview
KS1
School days
KS1 had a great Victorian Day! The teachers got into character as well! There was a carousel of different activities including games that Victorian children played, Victorian handwriting and abacus work, portrait painting of Queen Victoria and toy making.
Movers and Shakers
In History today Ash class learnt about the pilot Amy Johnson and her plane, Jason the Gypsy Moth. The class then made paper aeroplanes and tried them out in the playground!!
Lower KS2
Emperors and Empires
Larch class have been learning about the Romans this term and had a special day to celebrate!
Black history month
Willow class had a great afternoon learning all about Bessie Coleman as part of Black History month. The class thought she was very inspirational as she kept persevering and became the first black female pilot to perform in an air show. The children created a timeline, fact file and some pictures as part of their learning.
Emperors and Empires
Lower Key Stage 2 had a Roman Day. The children experienced some activities which occurred in Ancient Rome. Some children dressed like a Roman, they wore togas, gowns and even soldier’s uniforms. The first activity involved learning how to march and use a shield like Roman soldiers. The children then fought off wild beasts like gladiators, had a chariot race (which was really a wheelbarrow race) and finally participated in a mighty thumb war! Other activities included: making a mosaic, jewellery and model. Playing authentic Roman board games, colouring and completing puzzles. At the end of the session, the children had a Roman feast. They ate delicious food like olives and fruit; they really loved eating bread dipped in honey, yum!
Upper KS2
Maafa
Year 6 had a busy but fun time at the Horniman Museum today. The children saw artefacts from the Benin Kingdom. They also saw some art and photos inspired by the Nigerian nation.
Maafa
Sycamore class enjoyed a visit to the Horniman Museum this week as part of their project 'Maafa'
Groundbreaking Greeks
As an introduction to their history project the children dressed as ancient Greeks and used a Now Press Play experience.
Groundbreaking Greeks
Year 5/6 went to the British museum to look at artefacts from Ancient Greece to support their history learning
Amazing support for my child which has made them develop and succeed
