Foresters allotments
We are very lucky at Foresters to have a dedicated gardening area with several raised beds and a greenhouse. Children in year 4 take part in a weekly gardening club that runs throughout the year. The children work together with Mrs Terry to dig the beds, sow seeds and then plant the seedlings in the raised beds. They make sure the plants are watered on a regular basis and help with the composting. This year they also made scarecrows to keep the birds away! In the past year they have grown potatoes, garlic, onions, lettuces, tomatoes, beans, beetroot and pumpkins. Much of the food grown goes to the kitchen for the children to eat in their school lunches. Mrs Terry also promises to taste everything that is grown!
